Kelly’s performance demonstrated that she has one of the best vocals!
Kelly Clarkson, who won the inaugural season of American Idol at the age of 20, had no clue that in just a few years she would be one of the world’s most recognized singers, receiving countless awards for her work in music.
But here she is today, twenty years later, reaping the benefits of her hard work and even hosting her own talk show.
The singer has frequently voiced her respect for the late Whitney Houston on the Kelly Clarkson Show. In one of the episodes, she even performed Saving All My Love For You.
Clarkson, on the other hand, never misses an opportunity to express that she admires other renowned singers. That’s why she opted to sing I Will Always Love You at the ACMs.
The song, which the legendary Dolly Parton first recorded in 1973, became a smash, but Whitney Houston’s rendition for the movie The Bodyguard elevated it to epic status.
Clarkson, a lover of both artists, opted to perform this song as an homage to them.
As seen in the video, she emerges on stage wearing a black velvet long-sleeved gown, which makes her look especially glamorous, sophisticated, and sensual.
But the fantastic part begins when she begins to sing. It is clear from the opening lyrics that this performance will go down in history.
At first, the audience cannot stop cheering, and then they all sing along with Clarkson. Her performance truly touched everyone’s heart.
Her effortless performance without missing a beat and confident demeanor are reminders of why this woman has progressed so far in her profession.
Dolly Parton, who approached the stage shortly after the song concluded, hugged the young vocalist tightly.
“Oh my God, that was incredible!” Parton yelled. “That’s fantastic, Kelly. Whitney (Houston) is probably beaming down on us tonight. Thank you very much. Backstage, I was trying not to weep my artificial eyelashes off.”
The 76-year-old country singer went on to declare, “That just topped it off for me,” before crowning Miranda Lambert as the year’s entertainment.
Clarkson’s cover of the iconic song was published on YouTube and had over a million views and 26k likes in the first two days.
Social media users are praising the singer’s performance and have left nice comments underneath the video.
“This, my friends, is the epitome of “Less is more!” “I’ve been following her for over 15 years, and she never ceases to amaze me,” one person noted, while another added, “She kept the sweetness of Dolly’s version while including the power of Whitney’s version, and all while making this performance distinctly Kelly.”
